Bettina Hein started out with her amazing presentation about how business models evolve constantly over the lifetime of a startup. She told us her story about how she started working on SVOX that developed speech-to-text software. Their initial market was telecom. However, they later learned that due to economic conditions (it was during the Telecom Bubble Burst!) they pivoted their market to embedded systems (after trying a "bunch of things" from talking cows for commercials to talking refrigerators). They made this pivot after everything they tried they had an automotive client that helped them realize their opportunity.
